The Ultimate Exterior Storage Box

We set out to build the ultimate exterior cargo box for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter—one that takes full advantage of the available space on the rear door without compromising access or functionality.

The ULT Box 3036 is built around our 30-inch-wide design platform, an approach Off Grid Fabrications helped pioneer with our wider rear-door cargo carriers. With over 11 cubic feet of interior storage, the ULT Box 30 gives you serious room for recovery gear, tools, camp equipment, hoses, power equipment, and everything else you'd rather carry outside the van.

Every ULT Box 3036 is made in Salisbury, North Carolina, from 5052 aluminum that is laser cut and formed in-house, then TIG welded by hand. We carry that same attention to detail throughout the box with 304 stainless steel hardware, 316 stainless hinge hardware, 1/8" stainless gas-spring brackets, and a USA-made SUSPA gas spring.

A large integrated exterior accessory panel uses our 2" × 2" mounting grid, giving you additional space for mounting gear directly to the outside of the box. Available 3/8"-16 stainless steel PEM inserts can be installed throughout the 1/2" mounting holes for clean, secure attachment of accessories.

Inside, the ULT Box 30 includes one shelf standard and can be configured with an additional shelf or our optional lower pull-out storage tray.

The result is more than a big box. It's a purpose-built exterior storage system designed around making better use of the Sprinter's rear door.

A Note on Storage Capacity

We calculate the ULT Box 30's advertised storage capacity using the actual interior dimensions of the storage compartment. Some storage-box capacities in the industry are calculated using exterior dimensions, which can result in a larger advertised number than the space actually available inside.

Our 11.06 cu. ft. figure represents the space inside the box—not its exterior footprint.
