OGF Van Cargo Box Standard - Width Options
OGF Standard Van Cargo Boxes
If you're converting your camper van, you know that every inch of storage space is critical. When designing these storage boxes, we wanted to get the most out of our storage area for our cargo racks. We made these deeper than the industry standard to provide additional storage space. Pair that with a width option, heavy duty 1/8" (.125") 5052 aluminum construction, and hand TIG welded seams, you get the highest quality with unmatched value. Made in house in Salisbury, NC. When paired with our Cargo Carriers, there are a ton of mounting options. Please read below for more details!
Cargo Box Width Options
We designed our OGF Standard Cargo Boxes to offer you the best of both worlds. The industry standard box is 24" wide. This is allows for handle access on the rear passenger Sprinter van door. We understand that many van owners are looking for an option for a wider and deeper box to store things like camp stoves, griddles ect. Our wide box (SCB30) is perfect for this, and adds significant storage volume with a "wide mouth" opening. It is important to note this wide box must go above the door handle. We made our cargo carriers 30" wide with this set up in mind. This box is also mountain bike friendly when using our cargo carrier. The 18" height makes it perfect to fit between bike mounting arms and the door handle cut out on our racks.
Mounting Your Cargo Box
Our Cargo Boxes do not come pre drilled. We understand you may be mounting them in a variety of ways or to other brands of cargo carriers. There are many methods of transferring or measuring holes. We have found the easiest is to lay the cargo carrier on some saw bucks, lay out the boxes on the carrier where we want them and then transfer the holes underneath with a sharpie. We will be posting a video soon for more information on mounting, pemserts vs nut and bolt ect. we suggest 4 bolts in the back of each box to bolt to the Cargo Carrier. Each box will come with hardware.
Stacking Cargo Boxes
Stacking Cargo Boxes on your carrier can be achieved by hanging one box lower on our Cargo Carrier. We still recommend 4 bolts through the back of each box to the cargo carrier. To stop any movement or vibration, we recommend one small 1/4-20UNC bolt to tie them together. This makes for an extremely rigid set up with no movement or vibration. (Video coming soon).

After exhaustively researching the top manufacturers of van cargo boxes and tire racks, I purchased from Off Grid Fabrications their Passenger Side Platform, SCB24 & SCB30 Cargo Boxes and Rear Tire Carrier. Not only did the larger SCB30 Cargo Box accommodate my Weber Q1200 Propane Grill, the quality and heavy duty precision build of every item was beyond impressive. I bought in May of this year what in my opinion is the best Class B RV currently available (Grech Terreno-ion Tour 4x4) and I was only going to install what I believed to be the best cargo box & tire carrier available...with the help of Aaron and his team at OGF, all I can say is mission accomplished!
Love the width of the box. Great build quality and hardware and used. Excellent welds. Overall a great buy.
This is my second van with a cargo box on the back. The wide width of this box is amazing. It seems to hold more, and items are easier to stack. If you're short like my wife who is 5' tall you may have some difficulties getting things out due to the swing-down door being in the way because of the height you have to mount this box which is required to clear the door handle on the van. I think the width is more beneficial than the height of these cargo boxes. The box is square well-made and high quality. Zero complaints.
The cargo box arrived within 3 days of ordering and is top notch quality!
Super happy with my purchase, thank you!
Mounting my cargo box to the recently installed OGF cargo platform was easy and provided a structurally secure assembly to carry my extra cargo I didn’t want inside the van. The overall engineering and quality in construction prompted me to add another box. OGF staff is knowledgeable and responsive, looking forward to adding more OGF components as I build out my rig.
